What is a dopamine site?
The Korean trend of fake checkout as retail therapy — and why anticipation beats delivery.
A dopamine site is an online shopping simulator. You browse products, fill a cart, complete checkout, and sometimes track a package — all without spending money or receiving goods. The name stuck because the pleasurable part of shopping is often anticipation, not ownership.
Where it started
In spring 2026, South Korean creators built food-delivery and mall simulators that went viral. Western clones followed within weeks. DopaminaShop, FoodNeverComes, DopamineCart, and dozens of smaller sites all chase the same ritual with different chrome.
What Dopomine adds
We framed it as a multi-seller mall: luxury aisle, absurd aisle, groceries, mystery boxes, mishap tracking, and a closet for things that never arrived. Same $0.00. More steps. No ads.
